Special Educational Activities

EDUCOA designs special educational activities that support learning of the Framework and use of Digital Portfolios (DPs), such as the following:

Annual Contests: EDUCOA provides opportunities for students to exercise their writing skills and creative minds by administering an annual contest with topics related to EDUCOA’s four lifelong learning skill sets. The contest also enables students to build on basic computer skills, such as typing and uploading documents, and ensures that students have mastered understanding on using Evernote, which they use to submit the contest entries. A similar contest is held for teachers.

Career Month: This designated month is held to overlap with Ghana’s public school’s career week, where EDUCOA provides additional resources to help students devote one month to exploring their ambitions, identifying their strengths and interests, and learning about different professions and industries. EDUCOA will provide guided activities to teachers. EDUCOA will also aim to invite speakers that range from various professions in national and international companies to community leaders to visit our schools and engage students in career building activities. All activities conducted during this month will be saved in the students’ Career Notebook.

Global Awareness Month: This designated month is held to overlap with Ghana’s public school’s culture week, where EDUCOA provides additional resources to encourage students to learn about other countries and cultures. EDUCOA will provide guided activities to teachers. All activities during this month will be saved in the students’ My Passport Notebook.

Peer to Peer Learning Activities: Students in different regions partner with one another to correspond and share their assignments, projects, and ideas within Evernote. For example, a student in one of EDUCOA’s Accra schools can share his or her work with a student in one of EDUCOA’s Northern schools. This activity will allow students to connect and learn from peers in different parts of the country, which enables students to envision beyond the immediate borders of where they live and go to school.

EDUCOA Day: At the end of the school year in July, EDUCOA organizes a celebratory day for students to showcase their DPs to their classmates, teachers and parents. Award ceremonies are also be held to present certificates and prizes to contest participants and winners.
